1. Get Started with Trips Agent
Trips Agent helps you explore and analyze your organization's travel data using natural language. Whether you're reviewing travel spend, investigating individual trips, or identifying travel trends, Trips Agent provides fast, actionable insights without the need for manual reporting.
From a single conversation, you can analyze travel expenses, explore trip details, identify spending patterns, and answer travel-related questions across your organization.
What You Can Do with Trips Agent
Trips Agent helps you:
- Analyze travel spend by traveler, department, vendor, destination, or time period.
- Explore trip details with detailed breakdowns of airfare, hotels, transportation, meals, and other travel expenses.
- Perform geographic searches to find trips within a specified distance of a location.
- Interact with Trip Explorer to ask questions about the trips currently displayed on your screen.
- Identify travel trends by reviewing popular destinations, trip volumes, and top travelers over time.
Accessing Trips Agent
The Trips Agent is available within the Ask CAI workspace.
To access the Trips Agent:
- Click the Ask CAI (star) icon in the top-right corner of the AIQ header.
- Once the Ask workspace opens, activate the Trips Agent by either:
- Clicking the Trips agent capsule above the prompt box, or
- Selecting Trips from the Agent Selector dropdown at the bottom left of the chat window. (See screenshot below)
2. Explore the Trips Workspace
Familiarize yourself with the key areas of the Trips workspace before you begin.
Explore Results in Trip Explorer
Trip Explorer is an interactive workspace for exploring travel data from the Trips Expense Cube. It displays trip records returned by the Trips Agent and allows you to view active trips, making it easy to analyze, filter, and explore travel data in greater detail.
Note: All information displayed in Trip Explorer is sourced from the Trips Expense Cube.
Loading Data into Trip Explorer
There are two ways to populate Trip Explorer:
Option 1: From a Trips Agent conversation
- Ask the Trips Agent a question about your travel data.
- If matching trip records are found, click Show in Trip Explorer.
- The Trips Agent retrieves the relevant records from the Trips Expense Cube and displays them in Trip Explorer for further analysis.
Option 2: View Active Trips
- Click Show me active trips.
- Trip Explorer retrieves all currently active trips from the Trips Expense Cube and displays them for analysis.
3. Get the most out of Trips Agent
Analyze Travel Spend
Find travel spend by traveler, department, destination, vendor, or time period.
Example prompts
- What was the total travel spend for the Engineering department in 2024?
- Compare Q3 and Q4 travel spend.
- Show hotel spend by month.
Explore Trip Details
View detailed information about individual trips, including airfare, lodging, transportation, meals, and other travel expenses.

- Show all hotel expenses for this trip.
Find Trips by Location
Locate trips based on a city, landmark, or geographic radius.

Identify Travel Trends
Discover spending patterns, popular destinations, and travel activity over time.
